Guarantee: Walrus guarantees its products, to the original owner, against any defects in materials or workmanship.  Valid claim for such defects will be corrected by means of repair or replacement at Walrus' option.  Walrus also provides repair for their tents where they have been subject to UV degradation, accident, misuse or normal wear and tear.  Such repairs will be performed at prevailing labor/materials costs.  In addition, Walrus offers a total repair/replacement guarantee on their aluminum pole sets.  If a tent pole is damaged Walrus will repair or replace it free of charge.

Brief company history: Bob Swanson, a pioneer in the outdoor industry since 1965, launched Walrus in 1984.  His goal: affordable performance.  Walrus became the first company to apply a rapid hub system to backpacking/camping tents.  Walrus was among the first in the industry to tape-weld floor and fly seams.  Diamondback fabric was designed specifically for Walrus in their quest to find a fly sheet material that could withstand extreme sun exposure.  Walrus consistently earns praise in comparative reviews published in backpacking magazines such as Backpacker and Outside.  http://www.walrusgear.com/entrance.html

The End of Walrus: Since 2001, MSR has been distributing Walrus tents for backpackers and adventure travelers. In 2002, MSR decided to apply its 30 years of expertise in making reliable gear to making a new generation of tents for serious outdoors people. This new line of MSR tents replaces Walrus tents. http://www.walrusgear.com

The following are featured on all Walrus tents.

Pole and connecting ferrule Walrus' poles are made of extruded 7001 series aluminum that is  hard anodized.  Connecting ferrules are both glued and crimped for long lasting strength and reliability.
The pole end-tip design allows for field repairs without tools.  Walrus backs their poles with a guarantee against any failure, including accidental breakage.

Rugged plastic fasteners connect fly to tent.

Solid brass grommets secure aluminum poles.

tape sealed seams Tape-welded tent floor and rain fly seams.
Fly fastener stitching Reinforced stitching on fly-to-tent fastener points.
Reinforced stakeout point Reinforced fly stake-out points. Included on all tents except Arc/3 (which uses guy points).

The following are featured on select Walrus tents.

Pole hub Walrus' Rapid Hub device provides very strong geometries by distributing stress through a grouping of poles rather than on any single pole.  The Rapid Hub also allows configurations that are fast to set up.  Made of tough Zytel nylon - the hubs are guaranteed to never break. Used on Arc/3, Rapeede, Warp/2, and the optional vestibule for Mountain 360s.
Closeup of DIAMONDBACK fly material DIAMONDBACKTM flysheet material was specifically developed to provide better UV resistance than plain nylon.  It is more dimensionally stable than nylon and will better resist sagging in wet weather, or extreme shrinking in desert heat.  Walrus' diamond-pattern combination of polyester and nylon provides a stronger flysheet for extended performance.  Used on Arc/3, Hurricane Hole, Rapeede, Starstreme, Warp/2, and Windshear.
Velcro tabs Velcro tabs keep rain flap closed over all tent and fly zippers on Arc/3, Hurricane Hole, Rapeede, and Warp/2.
